Boroondara Volunteer Expo 2012
20 February 2012 – The seventh annual Boroondara Volunteer Expo is taking place on Wednesday 14 March to highlight the many and varied volunteer opportunities available in the community.
The Volunteer Expo is a great opportunity to find a volunteering role that suits you. Representatives from more than 40 community organisations will be available on the day to talk about volunteering opportunities, including roles with:
- Hospitals
- Community centres
- Organisations working with children or youth
- Disability support agencies
- Aged care providers
- Conservation and gardening groups
- Library services and special interest groups.
The Volunteer Expo is free to attend. It will be held from 2–7pm at the Hawthorn Town Hall in Hawthorn (Melways Reference 45 D10).
You don't have to be a resident of Boroondara to attend – everyone is welcome!
Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Heinz Kreutz, said that without volunteers, the community simply would not be what it is today.
If residents cannot make it on the day, the Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is always available to provide more information and referrals to volunteer roles. You can contact them on (03) 9278 4550 or email bvrc@boroondara.vic.gov.au.
